Appending Metadata

To personalize and track on the user level Yozio enables you to use various methods to add and/or override (change) metadata on the fly. This ensures you can personalize the metadata associated to the SuperLink for each user depending upon user context - such as what particular product the user might be viewing at the time.

Dynamic Metadata

You can appended metadata directly to the end of your Yozio SuperLink. This metadata is called dynamic metadata.

Example: Let's say one of your Yozio SuperLinks is http://r.rivendell.com/ab.c and the metadata you'd like to append for user Frodo is user_id=Frodo and product_id=door_of_durin. If you appended the metadata dynamically onto the end of the SuperLink you'd render the following link for user Frodo: http://r.rivendell.com/ab.c?user_id=Frodo&product_id=door_of_durin.

In some cases where a user might see your SuperLink URL, such as in an SMS message, you might want a better looking URL. In these cases use the Yozio Sublink APIs to tell Yozio the metadata you'd like to append to your SuperLink and Yozio will return to you a unique and short URL.

Continuing our example above: If your Yozio SuperLinks is http://r.rivendell.com/ab.c and the metadata you'd like to append for user Frodo is user_id=Frodo and product_id=door_of_durin and you leveraged the Yozio Sublink API, Yozio will return to you a unique short URL associated with the metadata such as http://r.rivendell.com/ab.cF.

Sublinks can also have dynamic metadata appended, ie http://r.rivendell.com/ab.cF?referrer=Gandalf.

Metadata Override

You can override previous metadata values associated with a particular key. Yozio will override based upon the following precedence for any of your Yozio URLs (ie http://r.rivendell.com/ab.cF) : Static metadata < Sublink metadata < Dynamic metadata
